One of Washington's most spectacular interiors—the Great Hall of what is now the National Building Museum—once swarmed with employees of the presently defunct Pension Bureau. Opened in 1885, the building features an enclosed courtyard measuring 316 feet by 116 feet, with towering Corinthian columns at either end.
